Most information on this family comes from the family Bible which appears to have belonged to his daughter Elizabeth Reeves. It states that Jane was born 26 Sep 1800. Although John A. Reeve's birth date is not listed, he is listed in order between Sallie and Elizabeth. In 1850, he was listed with his sister Louisa J. Willson's household, age 16.

Although the family Bible and marriage records indicates Louisa was married first to Samuel Wilson, then to David Reeves, her death certificate is under the surname McNutt, with birth date 4 May 1827, one year exactly off the family Bible record. It lists her parents as John Reeve and Jane Carico. This is also backed up by the biography of son-in-law Hiram Reeve contained in History of Montgomery county, Kansas which states: "Hiram Reeve married Elizabeth Reeves, a native of Vigo county, Ind., and a daughter of John and Jane (Carico) Reeves."

In 1860, Jane was living with their daughter Elizabeth Reeve in Vigo County, Indiana.

The following notices appeared in a local newspaper on 15 Mar 1880 concerning the widow Jane Reeves. The newspaper is not know, but scans of the clippings are contained in Reeves folder in the Special Collections section of the Vigo County Library.
