In an 1832 Anderson County, South Carolina Common Pleas case, Joshua S. Reeves was taken to court by the former Commissioner Joseph V. Shanklin over money owed him from an 1826 note for $660. It was ordered he pay $76.95, apparently the remainder of what was owed. G. W. Reeves is listed as sharing bond on the payments.
Bartow County Ordinary minutes state that Noah Reeves and R. C. Hooper applied for administration "upon the estate of J. Smith Reeves, who resided at the time of his death in the said County of Cass and State of Georgia as aforesaid, and who departed this life about the first of the year 1860.
