Stephen was born 1830, and baptized 7 November 1830 at St Ethelbert and All Saints, Belchamp Otten, Essex

In 1841 Stephen was 10 years old and living with his parents and siblings Joseph (15) and John (2) in Belchamp Otten.

In 1851 Stephen was 20 years old and working as a shepherd for William Parmenter at Bevington House, Belchamp Otten. Also resident there were 66 year old Frederick E Corder (Gentleman) and 20 year old Fanny Grimsood (House Servant).

In 1891 Stephen was 59 years old and was living and working as a Thatcher Laborer in Bulmer, Essex.

There is no record of Stephen being married or fathering any children.
