Although the Family Bible doesn't mention him, the will of Benjamin's father Henry mentions "grandson William Smith Reeves when he arives to the age of twenty one years two hundred dollars to be paid him by his father Benjamin Reeves." This could be an error and William may have been a son of one of Benjamin's brothers.

His father's family Bible states he was born 7 Jul 1782. His own family Bible states it was 7 Jul 1783.
