He was born in Mulgrave. Baptised on November 21, 1895. He was a merchant for over 50 years and owned a grocery store in Mulgrave, Nova Scotia. His father opened the store,(J.F. Reeves & Son) they worked together for many years, then he ran it alone, then he retired. He was a veteran of the First World War. Senior member of the Cambrai Branch, Royal Canadian Legion. He was 79 when he died, suddenly in his sleep at home. He is buried at St. Andrews Anglican church cemetery in Mulgrave Nova Scotia. Rev. Burton officiated. (Obituary in Halifax Chronicle-Herald newspaper, gravestone in Mulgrave)Carl was married to Lillian Frances Cornwall (b. 31 March 1900, Weymouth North NS) (known as 'Connie') at the Riverside Baptist United Church in Weymouth North, Nova Scotia on September 19th, 1925. (Family Bible). The met first in Kemptville NS he was at a sanitorium recovering from pneumonia caught in France when he served as a miner/sapper with the engineer corps. She was working in a store. They met again in Truro, NS she was attending Normal (Teacher's) college and he was in business College.They were engaged for five years before marrying in 1925. She taught in Bear River NS and Toronto in 1924 she wanted to 'see the world' before marrying! One time she was in a buggy and a train spooked the horse and it took off with her. They had three children:

2. Carolyn Anne (b. 10 June 1933) m. Gerald Roger Otley (m. 8 June, 1954)
3. Joyce Marie (b. 26 January 1938) m. Gordon Shaw (m 5 Sept 1966)
Research Notes
(1) Carleton's birth was formally registered when self reported in August 1965 and he indicates he was born on 09 September 1895. Note however on the 1901 census he is recorded as being born on 09 September 1894 and that he was five years old (estimated year of birth 1896).(2) Note the Marriage Register indicates Carleton and Lillian were married on 9 November 1925 and that the information was filed on 11 September 1925.
