No record of Charles Reeves is found in Patrick County, Virginia after his 1816 marriage to Elizabeth Lackey. It appears that he and his siblings all left Virginia sometime before 1820.

Although there is very little record of his presence in White County, Tennessee, a Charles Reeves was present there circa 1820 until at least 1834. In the Old Sparta Cemetery, there is a grave inscribed "In Memory of Elizabeth, consort of Charles Reeves, who departed this life 12 Sep 1821, age 31 yrs, 2 mo, 6 da." This is of the right age to be Charles' wife Elizabeth Lackey. Also buried in the same cemetery is Martha MNU whose tombstone is inscribed "In Memory of Martha, consort of Charles Reeves, who departed this life, 1 May died 1830, 30yrs. 8mo. 1da."

Taxable property and polls in Capt. Godwin’s Company of Militia for the year 1834 as recorded in White County, Tennessee Trustee’s Office Tax Book (1832-1836), page 141 were returned by Charles Reeves, Esq.
