The birth of Charles Edwin REEVES was registered in the second quarter of 1895 in the Petersfield Registration District. He is the sixth of nine known children of George REEVES and his wife Mary (nee ANSELL), all of whose births were registered in the Petersfield Registration District.By the time of the 1901 census, Charles, along with five of his siblings, appears in his parent's household on North Road, Petersfield, He is 5 years old and born in Petersfield.
On the 1911 census Charles is found living in his parent's home at 20 Osborne Road in Petersfield, Hampshire. Charles is the fourth of seven children in the household. He is 15 years old, born in Petersfield and working as a Labourer on Golf Links.
At an unknown date Charles joined 1st Battalion, Hampshire Regiment. He served as a Private with regimental number was 9520 and died in April 1918, whilst serving in France. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, in the Pas de Calais, France.
The CWGC site notes his parents as George and Mary REEVES of 20 Osborne Road, Petersfield, Hampshire and Charles' sacrifice is also recorded on the Petersfield (Hampshire) War Memorial. 1
