Charles K. Reeves, son of George W. Reeves, appears to be the same person as the Charles King Reeves later found in Lavaca Co., TX.
Charles K. Reeves was enumerated in Zebulon, Pike Co., GA, in 1860. As per Mary E. Reaves's Confederate Widow's Pension Application, Charles King Reaves enlisted in Griffin, Spalding Co., GA, in Company D, 2nd Battalion, Georgia Sharpshooters. Confederate records sent in support of the application show that he enlisted in Pensacola, FL, before being transferred to the Georgia Sharpshooters and that he served until 1865.
Charles K. Reeves was living in JP 6, Lavaca Co., TX, in 1900. The census showed that he was born in Georgia and that his father was born in North Carolina and his mother in Georgia. He was a farmer. Wife Mary E. Reeves had been born in 1849 in Georgia. They had only one child living with them in 1900. Etta's death certificate identifies her parents as Charles King Reaves and Elizabeth Thompson. As per her Confederate Widow's Pension Application, Mary E. Reeves was born 8 January 1849. She died in 1931 and is buried in Gonzales Masonic Cemetery, Gonzales Co., TX.
