Narrative

Recorded in 1830 census of DeKalb County, Georgia living in next household to Michael Reeves. Household consists of 1 Male 30-40, 3 Females 0-5, 2 Females 5-9, 1 Female 30-40. Head of household's name is listed as Demey or Demcy.

Possibly son of or related to Hardy Reeves.

This is probably the Mr. Dempsey Reeves mentioned in The Charleston Daily Courier on 31 Mar 1827 as having been charged along with Capt. William Thomason of robbing Capt. Charles M. Hart, tax collector of York District, South Carolina. However, they were acquitted by the jury as it was proven that they were in a different location at the time of the robbery. This further indicates a likely connection to the Reeves families in the York District area.
