There are discrepancies in the birth dates for Elijah. His WWII Draft card states he was born 27 Aug 1928. His death record states 30 Sep 1930. Given that his WWII draft was dated 27 Aug 1946, it seems apparent that he fibbed his age to be included as 18. Note that the 1930 census also states he was 0 years old.
