Toronto in Woodson County was laid out in 1869 by the Toronto Town Company, of which Enoch Reeves was President.

The town of Toronto was originally called Reeves for Enoch Reeves but was later changed to Revere and eventually to Toronto.

The Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index for 1870 records the death of Enock (sic) Reeves in February of 1870 in Greenwood County, Kansas of typhoid fever.
