The fifth known child of Samuel and Mary Reeves, she was baptised in the names Hester Brookes REEVES at the Parish Church of All Saints Dibden Hampshire, on 10 December 1826. Unusually in this family & era, she is given her mother's maiden name as her second given name.

She has been identified on the 1841 census aged 14 and the 1861 census aged 33, living in her parents home at Staplewood Farm. On the 1851 census, as Esther B Reeves age 24, she is working in domestic service in the household of Frederick G SHUTE at Victoria Lodge Millbrook along with her sisters Elizabeth and Sarah.

Her death, in the name of Esther Brooks REEVES, is recorded on FreeBMD D. Reg. in 4q 1862 (New Forest Registration District vol 2b page 337)
