On 31 Oct 1879, he was promoted to the rank of Surgeon in the Madras (India) Medical Department, with a remark of "Bombay"

On 31 Oct 1891, he was promoted to the rank of Major in the Indian Medical Service (Madras)

On 31 Oct 1899, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Medical Service (Madras), a rank which he retained in June 1906
