The following is from the District of St John the Baptist, Hoxton in Middlesex:
  • George son of George & Ann Reeves (silversmith) living at Little Moneyer Street baptized 12 Aug 1832, born 27 Mar 1830

In 1880, the family was living on Brackett Street in Portland. In 1900, they were living at Monroe Place in Portland. In 1910, he was living with his son Walter. Susan died on 2 Oct 1903. The death record states she was the daughter of Alick MacMillen.

The census indicates he was born in England and that he was a jeweller.

The death record for daughter Rosana V. Merrill states she was born in London, England and was the daughter of George J. Reeves (jeweller) and Mary Cook, both born in London. The death record for son George Joseph Reeves gives the same information minus the middle initial for the father.

The 1900 census shows he had been married to Susan for 26 years (c1874). It also states he immigrated to the United States in 1864. He was naturalized on 27 Feb 1886 with the oath of allegiance. In the naturalization record is states he was born at London, England in March 1830.

Maine Death records show George Reeves died 18 Mar 1912 in Portland. Gives place of birth as London, England. Occupation was jeweler and the occupation of his father was jeweler as well, although parents names not stated.

This is a good match to the George Reeves who married Mary Ann Cook in 1854 in St. Luke Parish, Middlesex. The record states that he was a goldsmith and that his father was a silver tanner. A Joseph Reeves was witness.

This family appears in Finsbury, St. Luke, Middlesex in 1861 living with the family of William Luke Walker. George Reeves (28) is listed as a Jewellers assistant born in London City. Hs wife Mary Ann (3) was born in St. Lukes, Middlesex, Children George Joseph (4) born in Islington, Middlesex and Mary Ann (1) born in Tumbridge Wells, Kent.

In 1841, he was living with his parents it Cripplegate, St. Botolph Aldersgate, Middlesex, age 12. His father George (36) is listed as a silver turner which matches the marriage record. Mother Ann (36) and apparent siblings John (9), Joseph (7), Henry (4), and Frederic (2).
