Narrative
Daily Union and American, 16 Aug 1859PROBABLE MURDER OF A TENNESSEAN IN ARKANSAS
The Memphis Evening Argus learns that on the evening of the 11th inst., Mr. George Reaves, son of the late Col. Peter G. Reaves, was found dead upon the farm of his brother, John Reaves, Esq., who resides some thirteen miles below Memphis, on the Arkansas shore. Young Reaves before leaving home, took his gun, and remarked to his brother that he would spend the night at a new farm recently opened by his brother, about a mile and a half from his home. He was not accompanied by any one. It appears that a negro boy discovered young Reaves on the road, dead. Upon examination he was found to be shot in the breast, and bleeding profusely. His gun was not found, and it is probably that he was shot by some person who took it from him.
