PRIVATE REEVES KILLED IN ACTION
Was a Grandson of the Late Henry S. Eckert
Private Henry Eckert Reeves, of Philadelphia, a grandson of the late Henry S. Eckert, noted Reading: iron master and one time president of the school board, was killed in action in France on September 6th. The young soldier is a descendant of one of Reading’s oldest and best known families and has many relatives here. Private Reeves, who was about 23 years of age, was a son of Mrs. Alfred Scull Reeves, formerly Misg Kate Eckert. He was in the service for more than a year. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Adele F. Bowes, and two young children. He was a cousin of William K. Eckert, of this city.
After Henry's death, Adele appears in the household of her mother Helen Bowers in 1920. Henry and Adele had two sons, listed on the census: Henry E. Reeves, Jr., and Stewart K. Reeves.
