Humphrey Posey Reeves is identified in his father's will, but he does not appear by name in the 1850 census with James Reeves and family. He may have been the 13-year-old child shown there and perhaps misidentified by name.

Humphrey moved to Arkansas early in life. He married Harriet Eugenia Dickson on 1 December 1870; following Humphrey's death, she remarried in 1886 to a Josephus Clark Formby. She was born 6 August 1848 in Chambers Co., AL, and died 6 August 1895 in Columbia Co., AR. Humphrey is buried in Magnolia City Cemetery, while Harriet is buried in Shiloh Cemetery.
