Narrative

James Reeves was very active in Essex County throughout his life. He is recorded in numerous deeds and other court records until his death in 1762.

It appears that James never married for his will leaves the entirety of his estate to his housekeeper Mary Duke and her children - Jackson, James, Elizabeth, Susannah and Mary. James immediate family may have all predeceased him for his brother Joseph died in 1745 and there is no information available regarding his brother Jackson or sister Mrs. John Orme. There is no mention in James' will as to whether there was a family connection to Mary Duke.
