Narrative
In the 1830 Prince William County census, in addition to the family of Hezekiah H. Reeves who had moved to Prince William from Charles County, Maryland, there were two unidentified James Reeves.Research Notes
This, the older of the unidentified James Reeves recorded in the 1830 census of PWC was once considered as the possible father of Walter Reeves who was also listed in that census, but that has proved to be incorrect. The 1840 census of Prince William County, for the first time listed a widow, Winifred Reeves, 50-59 years of age, who was at one time considered as a possible widow of James and mother of Walter. This was speculated based upon this older James Reeves disappearance from Price William County records and possible death. However, Winifred has since been documented as the wife of John U. Reeves and there is inferential documentation that Walter was their son. The younger James Reeves was 30-39 years and has also proved to be a son of John U. Reeves and Winifred.
