Children of James Reeves and Eda Carter:

1. Oma Lee Reeves b. July 1893 Kansas

James (and his sister Minnie) seems to appear twice on the 1880 census. They appear with their step-father Shelton (who was also their uncle) and their mother Georgia on South Street in the City of Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri. The whole family are enumerated with the surname REAVES. This schedule was enumerated on 01 June. They also appear with their maternal Aunt Mary B Rector (nee Edwards) and her husband John E RECTOR in Georgetown, Pettis County. This schedule was enumerated on 17  June. See Research Note 1 below. On both occasions, James is noted as being 9 years old and "At School"

James A REEVES and Eda CARTER were married on 20 August 1892 at Marshfield in the Webster Co., Missouri.

James has not been identified on the 1900 census. See Research Note 2 below.

Research Notes

(1) Georgetown, Missouri is approximately four miles due north of the centre of the City of Sedalia, Missouri

(2) James's daughter Oma may be the individual who appears on the 1900 census as Oma R BAILEY, the step daughter of Benjamin BAILEY and his wife of 2 years Ella J BAILEY. This census show Oma was born in July 1893 in Kansas and that her parents were both born in Missouri.  See FamilySearch https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M3D2-JJC.

On the 1910 census Oma Lee REAVES again appears as the stepdaughter of Benjamin W BAILEY and his wife Johanna BAILEY. Benjamin & Johanna have been married 11 years and it is Johanna second marriage . See FamilySearch https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MLMD-7WW

This information would seem to suggest our subject James died prior to 1899.
