Although James and Mary J. were married in 1839 in Henry County, they do not appear in a household of their own in 1840. However, there were two Reeves households there in 1840, those of John B. Reeves and Isaac Reeves. The household of John B. Reeves appears to have another couple in it slightly younger than John B. Reeves. This may be James L. Reeves and his family, although the age is off slightly. Thus it may be possible that James L. Reeves was a brother of John B. Reeves.
James L. Reeves first bought land in Cherokee County in 1845 from Samuel Cobb (DB H, p2).
