Jasper Reeves enlisted on 4 Mar 1862 in the 42nd Regiment, Georgia Infantry of the CSA. He was killed in the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou, Mississippi which was part of the Vicksburg Campaign. Chickasaw Bayou is a tributary of the Yazoo River which flows into the Mississippi at Vicksburg.
Jasper's brother Thompson Reeves was appointed one of the guardians of Jasper's orphaned children on 10 Mar 1870. Recorded in the Court of the Ordinary Administrators & Guardian Bonds Book G, page 367.
The child listed as one year of age in the 1860 census, James, apparently died very young because there is no further mention of him.
