Both Maine vital records and the mortality schedule state cause of death was suicide. The mortality schedule states he was born in Massachusetts. His son's death record states John F. was born at Salem. It appears from the early census records that he was married and had a son.
The Burial records for Eastern Cemetery in Portland give the following:
- REEVES, John F d 12 June 1849 ae: 50 y. Tomb 81
Vital Records report a John Joseph Warren was born to John Felts Reeves and Margaret Warren 28 Sep 1827 in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine. This is the correct age to be the son in John's household on the census records. On the 1850 census, John J. W. Reeves is living with his mother and what appears to be his aunt, Sally Warren. The 1840 census also showed two women in the household that fit Margaret and Sally. Also, since John had died by 1850, this household fits the rest of the family perfectly and will be considered the same.
