Research Notes
Johnnie Brycelan Reeves is the grandfather of Donnie. The 1900 US Census shows his surname as Starr. The head of the house, John Starr was his step-father. Either the census taker was not provided with his true surname or just assumed Starr was his surname. William Troy Reeves and Rachel Charlotte Reeves are his biological parents. He was a share cropper in East Texas, North of Marshall, Texas. He died before I was born and most of the research has been done on Ancestry.com and interviewing my father and uncle's. The informant on his death certificate is his brother-in-law, J B Smith who said his parents were John Reeves Sr. and Sarah Starr. Why J B Smith would say this is beyond me since J B Smith's wife Sarah Jane, nee Reeves is Johnnie's full biological sister. Johnnie's children confirmed to Donnie Reeves that Sarah Jane Smith was their aunt and they had visited her and Jim Bob Smith on several occasions between 1920 and 1940. Malissa Jane Reeves, nee Phillips also confirmed that Sarah Jane and Lydia Mae Petty, Nee Starr were half sisters, they shared the same mother, Rachel Charlotte Starr. nee Medlin.Sources
