Children of Josiah W. Reeves and Nancy Mosee (Kemper):
  1. James Edmund Reeves, b. 5 Apr 1829
  2. Joseph Henry Clay Reeves, b. c1831
  3. Ann Maria Reeves, b. c1834
  4. Emily Reeves, b. c1840
  5. Thomas Asbury Reeves, b. c1843

There is a deed from 1832 in Charles County, Maryland, in which Josiah W. Reeves of Culpepper County, Virginia, sold land that was devised to him in his father Thomas I. Reeves's will.

The census and tax lists track some of his movements through Culpepper, Shenandoah, and Barbour Counties in Virginia.

The 1850 census says he was born in Virginia, but other census records state Maryland. The census denotes he was a tailor and Methodist minister.

REEVES - At Grafton, West Virginia, 19th instant, Rev. JOSIAH W. REEVES, aged 73 years.

An obituary for his son James Edmund Reeves in the The Sanitarian includes the following information:
James Edmund Reeves died at his home in Chattanooga, Tenn., January 4th, 1896. He was the son of the Rev Josiah Washington and Nancy Mosee (Kemper) Reeves, grandson of Thomas Washington Reeves, was born April 5th, 1829, in Amissville, Rappahannock County, Va.

This obituary incorrectly names Josiah's father as Thomas Washington Reeves. This was probably the name of his brother Thomas W. Reeves who was mentioned in their father's will.

Josiah's granddaughter Anna Jarvis, daughter of Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis, was the founder of Mother's Day.
