Lawson is recorded as serving in Mean's 1st Regiment South Carolina Militia during the War of 1812. He received a land warrant for service in that war as a private in Capt. Beaty's Company. Land Warrant #79657 for 120 acres in Nodaway County, Missouri was assigned by Lawson Reeves to Jacob Durham. The Bureau of Land Management issued a certificate to Jacob Durham on 1 Dec 1859.
Lawson Reeves is listed in numerous family trees as Richard Lawson Reeves and it would be interesting to locate the source of the first name Richard since all census records, probate records from York SC, military records and even his gravestone have only the name Lawson.
