Mark appears in the 1850 US Census as a son of Leroy and Adaline, Lost District, Cobb County, Georgia. He is shown as 12 years of age. Mark is listed as the head of a household in the 1860 US Census with his wife “T. L.”, living near J. M. Bell, possible father of Tempa. In the 1860 Census Mark is listed as age 23, a farmer, and born in Georgia.Mark enlisted in the Confederacy in 1862. He was a member of Wafford's Brigade, Phillips Infantry Legion, Company M. (Phillips Legion research and individual soldier cards in US Archives). He was discharged at Lee's Surrender on the 9th of April 1865 at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia
Mark (shown as Marcus) is enumerated in the 1870 US Census for Marietta District, Cobb County. His wife, Tempa L. Reeves died July 26, 1871 (New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery tombstone). On August 22, 1872 Mark married Mrs. Nancy E. Haygood (Southern Christian Advocate Marriages). Mark and Nancy are in Collins District, Fulton County in the 1900 US Census. Nancy died December 27, 1906 (New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery tombstone). In the 1910 US Census Mark is living in Milton County with his son Mathew Wilson Reeves. Mark died December 20, 1917, but his place of burial is unknown.
