Published in The Paducah Sun of Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky on 23 Jun 1897:
Mr. Marshall Reeves, a clerk in I. L. Randolph's grocery, has gone to Poplar Bluff, Mo., where he will tonight be married to Miss Mattie Carver, of that place, returning to Paducah with his bride next Saturday.

Obituary - The Republican - Caruthersville, Missouri - Thursday, May 25, 1933
Marshall Preston Reeves, a highly respected and well liked citizen of Caruthersville for 30 years, died at his home on East Ninth street, Monday, May 22, at 7 a.m., following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Baptist church.
Mr. Reeves was born at Blandville, Ky., June 20, 1874. He was united in marriage to Miss Mattie Carver at Poplar Bluff, Mo., June 23, 1897, and to this union was born four children, who with his widow survive him. He came to Caruthersville about 30 years ago and he and his family have called this city home since. He spent several years on the road traveling for the B.F. Avery Co., implement manufacturers, the Blount Plow Co., and International Harvester Co. He spent 18 years with the Caruthersville Hardware Co., of this city and was also in the employ of the Traders Merc. Co., of this city.
He was baptized in the Caruthersville Baptist Church 28 years ago and has always been a loyal, consistent and devoted member. He has been a member of the Board of Deacons of the local church for many years and was chairman of the board at the time of his death. He was a fine Christian gentleman and a good citizen.
About two years ago he underwent a major operation and an 11-pound tumor was removed from his stomach. He never was able to regain his strength and for the past two months he has been confined to his home, most of the time being spent in bed.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mattie Reeves, three daughters, Miss Alma Reeves, Miss Hazel Reeves and Mrs. Walter Westerman, all of this city, and one son, Carl Reeves, of Topeka, Kansas. In addition to these he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ethel Loser of Paducah, Ky., and three grandsons, Jack Reeves Langdon and Dickie Westerman of this city and Marshall Reeves, Jr., of Topeka, Kan.
Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church of which he had been a faithful and loyal member for 28 years, with the Rev. D.K. Foster in charge. The pall bearers were Chas. G. Ross, Earl Long, M. Brent, Dr. J.B. Luten, Harold S. Jones and Roscoe M. Pierce, all members of the Board of Deacons. The other members of the Board acted as honorary pall bearers.
Interment was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
