Child of Martha Ann Reeves and David Ellis:

Death Notices from The Meriwether County Vindicator, Volumes 16 through 20, December 9, 1887 - December 16, 1892, shows: Judge David Ellis, son of William H. and Celie Ellis, died in Greenville June 8th, 1891; he was born in Iredell county, N. C., six miles east of Statesville, May 2nd, 1817, and joined the Presbyterian church at Bethany, N C.in 1840; he came to Greenville in 1841, and for a while he was bookkeeper and general manager of the Howard Hotel, thence entering the store of Judge Myron Ellis; about 1850 he became a partner of Robinson, Ellis & Co. doing a successful business for 8 years, the death of James L. Robinson and the removal of Judge John Robinson to Montgomery causing a dissolution; he was for years a member of the old inferior court and served ably as county treasurer before, during and after the war; his first wife was a sister of Messrs. Madison and Col. T. A. Reeves; his second marriage was to Miss Sallie, daughter of the late Dr. Brewster, then a resident of Greenville; he leaves three daughters and one son; the funeral services were held at the family residence Tuesday morning followed by burial at the cemetery; Vol. 19, No. 29, June 12, 1891 (this is the 2nd No. 28, the June 5th issue being also No. 28)

Death Notices from The Meriwether County Vindicator, 1896-1901: Mrs. Sallie Longino, of Mountville, a daughter of the late Judge David Ellis, died recently of a stroke of paralysis, and was buried at (unreadable) cemetery near Warnerville; Vol. 26, No. 6, January, 14, 1898. In a memorial by members of the Mt. Zion Church in a later issue: the former Miss Ellis was born Feb. 18, 1851, married W. P. Longino on Nov. 16, 1879, and died on December 25, 1897; she had in youth joined the Presbyterian church, but in later life bacame a member of the Baptist church; her mother, the wife of Mr. David Ellis, died when she was two years old and she was raised by her grandmother, Mrs. Reeves, who died when Miss Ellis was only twelve; Vol. 26, No. 11. February 18, 1898.
