Narrative

The only information known about this Moses Reeves is that gleaned from the 1851 census. It has not been possible to corroborate his birth with either Family Search or the Hampshire Genealogical Society's indices to baptisms.

At the time of the 1851 census, on 30 March, Moses was at the George Hotel, High Street, Winchester. The census schedule for this hotel extends over 3 pages and enumerates 47 individuals, including three designated as "Head". This confusion in the use of the relationship column makes it difficult to be certain whether Moses was employed by the hotel or merely happened to be residing there on the night of the census. Moses claims to be 73 years old and born in Kings Somborne. His relationship is shown as Servant and his occupation is Post Boy.

Moses has not been identified on the 1861 census and his may be the death noted by FreeBMD in 2q1855 in Winchester Registration District.
