Nancy Reed Dies
Widely Known Resident of Gilman Neighborhood Called to Rest
Following an extended illness with paralysis, complicated with a dropsical affection, Mrs. Nancy Ann Reed, widow of the late Jehu Reed, died Friday afternoon at 3:45 at the home of her brother, John Reeves, six miles southeast of the city, near Gilman. The funeral will be held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at the Pleasant Run church, in charge of Rev. B. E. Jones, of this city, and burial will follow in the Jones cemetery.
Mrs. Reed was 79 years of age, and was a native of Tennessee. She came to Indiana in 1861, and has been a continuous resident here since. She was first married to a man named Howell, who preceded her to the grave many years ago. Later she was married to Mr. Reed and he died about three years since.
She was of a family of nine children, of whom four brothers survive, John James and Jordan Reeves, of this community, and German Reeves, of Munice. No children were born to her in either marriage.
For many years Mrs. Reed was a member of the Methodist church, and was a woman of many excellent qualities, being highly esteemed by all who knew her. Her acquaintance among the older residents of the county was a wide, and she had lived in this immediate community for more than a half century.
