His headstone photo which shows his age at death with birth about April of 1817. Per his 1851 Naturalization Record, he was born about 1819 or 1820.

In the 1841 census, it says he was born in the same county he was living in. There is a Samuel Reeves (b. c1784), a William Reeves (b. c1782) and an Ephraim Reeves (b. c1821) living close by.

He has a land patent from 1849 for land in Columbia County, Wisconsin.
