Narrative

Richard is the eldest of three known children of William Reeves & Mary (nee mnu), who was baptised at the Parish Church of St Mary, Sturminster Marshall, Dorset on 1 April 1831.

On the 1841 census taken on 6 June, Richard appears in the household of William Reeves (presumed to be his father) who is a blacksmith living at Sturminster Marshall in Dorset.

At the time of the 1851 census, on 30 March, Richard is lodging with William & Charlotte SAUNDERS at Bransgore in Hampshire. He is now aged 20 and working as a Groom. He claims birth in Sturminster Marshall Dorset.

Richard has not, as yet, been identified on either the 1861 or 1871 census returns.
