He was born about 1699-1701, maybe Bodiam, Sussex or Staplehurst, Kent. He married 5 Oct 1725 at St Clements Hastings, Sussex. In 1750 he was a lighterman of Bodiham [boatsman of a lighter craft]. He lived in Ewhurst, Sussex 1725-c1735, where his wife came from, and in Bodiam c1735-1767, where he was buried on 6 Oct 1767 at St Giles.
