Children of Samuel Reeves and Ann Murphy:- Thomas R Reeves, b. c1841
- Samuel B Reeves, b. c1844
- Margaret L Reeves, b. c1847
- Elizabeth Reeves, b. c1849
Based on the early census records, Samuel appears to have been married twice, and indeed there are two marriages listed for a Samuel Reeves in Greene County.
Will mentions wife "Ane", two sons, Thomas and Samuel, and two daughters, Margaret and Catherine. Ann Reaves and Josiah Harrison gained administration to execute his will on 5 Aug 1850. Court minutes mention a case "Josiah Harrison & Ann Reeve Executors of the Last Will and
Testament of Samuel Reeve decd vs Thomas Reeves & others" in which they got the court's order to sell the estate lands of Samuel Reeves. Doreglass Fillers was the highest bidder and bought the land.
There was a James B Reaves, b. c1833, in the household with them in 1850. Perhaps a son from previous marriage or another relative.
Research Notes
Name appears sometimes as Reeves and Reaves. Appears to be related to George Reeves, James Reeves, and Benjamin Reeves who was living nearby him in 1840. They may be grandsons of John Reeves through his son William. More research is needed to prove the relationship.Sources
