Samuel D. Reeves of Knightstown, was asphixiated and his wife rendered in a critical condition Sunday night from gas fumes from a baseburner stove.
Mr. Reeves was dead when found Monday morning and his wife was lying on the floor in an unconscious condition and is still in a critical condition, it is reported. They are aged people. Mr. Reeves was a brother of Representative Reeves, of Knightstown. Mrs. Reeves is an aunt of Mrs. John Wilson, of this city.
One cause for the deadly gas fumes forming it is said, was because the stove had not been taken down during the summer and the ashes had fallen down, filling the end of the pipe.
This couple doesn't appear to have had any children. The 1900 census lists zero for Amanda.
