A Samuel H. Reeves is recorded as enlisting as a corporal in Company H of the Arkansas 1st Cavalry Regiment, CSA.

By the 1880 census, Samuel H. Reeves and possibly his wife as well appear to have been deceased for the youngest children Henry M. Reeves and William T. Reeves (listed as nephews) are living in the household of his brother James T. Reeves.
