In 1871, Sturton was living in Waltham Abbey, Essex, age 24, a laborer in the Powder Mills, with his wife Susannah (25) and son Sturton W. (11 months).

In 1881, Sturton was living in Waltham Abbey, age 34, the foreman of the Royal Gunpowder Factory. With him are wife Susannah (35) and children Sturton William (10), Emma Susannah (8), Louisa Ellen (6), Mary Ann (3), and Lydia Eliza (1).

In 1891, he was living in Waltham Abbey, age 44, estate foreman at gunpowder factory, with wife Susannah (45), and children Sturton W. (20), Emma S. (18), Mary A. (15), Lydia E. (15), and Ada (7).

In 1901, he was living in Enfield, Middlesex, age 54, with wife Susannah (55) and children Emma S. (28) and Ada (17).

In 1911, he was still in Enfield, Middlesex, age 64. He was widowed and only his daughter Emma Susannah Reeves (38) was with him.

Sturton's death was registered in q1 1930 in Edmonton RD, Essex.
