Thomas Reeves is last enumerated in the 1880 census with his wife, Margaret, in Winston Co., AL, living next door to his widowed mother, Mary Slaton Reeves, and younger brother, William. According to Elbert Reeves, grandson of Thomas's brother, John Anderson Reeves, one of John's brothers got a girl pregnant in Winston County and either fled or was run out of town. This could be either Thomas or William, neither of whom are found in the censuses after 1880. In 1900 Margaret Reeves is living with Mary, her mother in law and Margaret's sons, James R. Reeves and William Matthews Reeves, in Franklin Co., AL. Margaret presumably died sometime before 1910 as she is not found in that census. William Matthews Reeves's death certificate lists his father as "unknown" and his mother as Margaret Barton.
