Narrative
William is the fourth known child of Joseph Reeves and Elizabeth (nee Butler). He was baptised at the Parish Church of St Leonard, Sherfield English, Hampshire on 1 April 1804.William and Elizabeth have not been positively identified on the 1841 census and nor has their place of marriage. Elizabeth originates from Lowestoft in Suffolk, so the marriage may have occurred there or somewhere else along the south east coast of England.
William appears with his wife Elizabeth on the 1851 census in Minstead, Hampshire, where he is the Farmer of 40 acres, employing one labourer.
At the time of the 1861 census, William and his wife Elizabeth appear to be residing in the same part of Minstead, now clearly recorded as Canterton. He is a farmer of 39 acres.
By the 1871 census, William and Elizabeth have moved to West End, Hampshire, where is now described as a farm labourer.
Neither William nor Elizabeth have yet been identified on the 1881 census returns.
