Narrative
Children of J. William Reeves and Henrietta Rhodes:- James C. Reeves, b. 6 Feb 1853
- Laura Reeves, b. c1859
Children of J. William Reeves:
- Asa Reeves, b. c1865
- Seborn Reeves, b. c1867
The death certificate for son J. C. Reeves Sr. states that he was born in Alabama and gives parents names as J. W. Reeves Sr. and Elizabeth Rhodes. The marriage record from Lauderdale County gives the names as William Reeves and Henryetta Rhodes.
He remarried in Panola County and appears there in 1880 with further children: Asa and Seborn. Since Seborn is buried in the same cemetery as son James C. Reeves, this appears to confirm this is the same individual and that he did indeed remarry. Given the marriage date, it's likely all the children were from the first marriage.
As James W. Reeves, he sold some land in Panola County 27 Oct 1883 (DB R, p7).
Research Notes
He has been postulated to be William James Reeves and son of Asa Reeves from Lauderdale County, Alabama, although this needs further investigation.
