Research Notes
The individual represented by this page did not exist. It is now accepted that the detail above results from a mis-understanding of individuals named in various historical documents concerning this family. The 1840 census of Rockingham County, Virginia lists the household of Reeves_William_3822 with the following members - 1 male <5 (Thomas H. Reeves born 1839), 1 male 10-14 (Peachy Harrison Reeves born 1829), 1 male 30-39, 1 female 5-9, 1 female 10-14 and 1 female 30-39. There is no male child born born circa 1831 that could be this William.
The 1850 census of Augusta County lists the household of Reeves_William_3822 as containing William Reeves, age 42, saddler; Thomas H., age 11; Robert F., age 8; and Eliza, age 43. Again, there is no child William in the home.
Probate case regarding the estate of the Reeves_John_3369 cited in the original narrative above (18230106_Looker_vs_Dunkinson) does name a William Reeves at several points.
However, it now agreed that this document refers to Reeves_William_3371 the son of the testator, who died in 1807, and his wife Eve Stombeck on the one hand and their son Reeves_William_3382 who was born in 1807 after the death of his father Reeves_William_3371 and no other William.
