William Green Reeves maried Rachel Simmons on 27 Sep 1838 in Harris County,Texas after which they returned to Louisiana where they are found in the 1850 census of Calcasieu Parish. In that 1850 census his family is living in the next residence to his mother who is recorded in the 1850 census as Mrs. Lucy Rives.

William's first wife Rachel appears to have died after 1850 for he was unmarried in the 1870 census and in 1880 had a younger wife, Elisa.
