Morgan's father Gaston Reeves and his brother Terrell, left Arkansas relocating their families to the Kansas Territory where they are mentioned in Greenwood County by 1856 in the History of Greenwood County which records that Gaston Reeves and his son Max (sic Mack) took claims in the spring of 1857. Also in that book, the Pleasant Grove township is credited as being established in 1856 by Terrell Reeves.

Morgan served in the 9th Kansas Cavalry during the Civil War and his widow is recorded as drawing a pension on his service.

He died between Feb 1877 and Sep 1878. He and his family were listed in the 1875 Kansas State Census taken on 1 March of that year and wrote a letter to an official of the Greenwood County KS court on the 5th of Feb 1877 regarding the distribution of the legatees to the heirs of A. H. Reeves which had been delayed by the administrator for over fifteen years. Morgan was deceased before Sep of 1878 based upon documents included in the probate case file of Albert H. Reeves' estate. Because Morgan would have been an heir to Albert's estate, his wife and children were included among the legatees in his place.
