According to the 1850 census, Emeline was born about 1824 in Tennessee. Willis wrote his will, which mentions his wife "Emoline", on 15 August 1857. He gave to his wife all "Real Estate and personal property to raise and school my children as long as she remains unmarried and my widow."
It appears Emoline remarried to a Joseph L. Kirby by 1860. She appears on the census with them in Pike County with a couple young Reeves in the household. John A. Reeves was still living with his mother Emeline in 1870 in Pike County.
