Narrative
There was a case entitled Wise Reeves an Infant & Plt agst John Odle Defendant briefly mentioned in Spotsylvania County, Virginia records from a court held 4 Sep 1753. This would indicate Wise was under 21 at the time, thus born after about 1732.Wise Reeves is found in Beverly Fleet's Colonial Abstracts Vol. II, p170, which mentions a paper among the estate papers of William Shackelford detailing the following: "It appears from the records of the county court of King & Queen by deeds recorded in the said court that Robert Porteus conveyed to Philip Rootes by deeds of lease and release date the 18th and 19th of September 1752 four hundred acres of land in one tract and one hundred and fifty acres in another tract. That Wise Reeves and Thomas Reeves conveyed to Philip Rootes two hundred and sixty two acres of land by deed bearing date the 23rd of September 1754 And that Philip Pendleton executor of Edward Watkins conveyed unto Thomas Reade Rootes one hundred acres of land by deed bearing date the 10th day of October 1757. Thoams W Todd DCC, February 5th, 1813."
On 7 May 1754, Spotsylvania County Court made a presentment against Wise Reeves for living with Margaret John Allen's wife in an adulterous relationship. Evidence was given by Thomas Reeves, Margaret Hubbard, George Fox, and John Rigater.
Administration of Wise Reeves's estate was granted to William Ramsey on 7 Aug 1759. His wife was named Jane but she relinquished her right as administrator and it therefore passed to William.
