Aged Liveryman At Carrollton Dies
CARROLLTON, Feb. 1. - (Special) - Andrew J. Rives, retired liveryman, who died in a Jacksonville hospital last Friday afternoon, will be buried here in the City cemetery following funeral services in the Simpson funeral home to be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. The Rev. R. M. Howard, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church will be in charge.
Mr. Rives was born in Greenfield Oct. 19, 1839, and, after spending his early life on a farm near there, moved to Carrollton in 1905, to take up the livery stable business. He retired in 1910, and has been living with two daughters, Mrs. Jesse King and Mrs. Lucy Gimme, of Carrollton, since that time.
His death came following a long illness.
He is survived by four sons, John of Jerseyville, Bert of Springfield, Fred of Weslaco, Tex., and Parks of Peoria, and, besides the two daughters living here, another one Mrs. Ed Davis of Greenfield.
