Narrative

George is referred to in the will of his sister Mary Rives as George P. Rives. A document dated 1822 from Morgan County, Alabama but filed in Chester County, South Carolina records reveals that Middleton Ford, George's brother-in-law complained that "George Reeves his Brother in Law is a man non compos mentis" (meaning not of sound mind). The court investigated and appointed Middleton Ford to be guardian to his entire estate. This was recorded later in 1831 along with a list of expenses made by Middleton on his behalf. Expenses continued to be recorded in this particular record through part of 1835.

In 1831, Middleton Ford of Morgan County, Alabama sold land in Chester County as the guardian for George Rieves. It incorrectly gives his middle initial as "S" while all other documents refer to him as George P. Rives.
