He went to California in 19o1 to assist his brother, Macklin Elliott Rives, in the latter’s brokerage business. After the earthquake he joined his brother, Harry Colegate Rives, in reclamation work. He married in 1901, Bessie, daughter of John Cantrell, of Knightsen, California, where he resides with his family and where he is employed by the Knightsen Irrigating District.
