James Velpeau Rives, born in Nashville, Tennessee, was educated in the schools of Birmingham and at Carnegie Institute of Technology. He served as a page at the Democratic National Convention in Baltimore in 1912, and in the Alabama State Senate, I911-I5. From 1917-19 he was an efficiency engineer for the Pittsburg—Des Moines Steel Co., at Pittsburg, and since 1921 he has been an engineer for the Inglenook Construction Co., Birmingham, Ala.
